Several years ago I wrote in a blog post Everyday Is Thanksgiving Day that gratitude is not something to experience and express on a certain day in November. Gratitude is a quality and way of life that cannot be turned on and off based on a particular day. It is a spiritual principle that is crucial to our being the highest and best expression of ourselves.
One way that some get in touch with that for which they are grateful is by keeping a gratitude journal. I think it is very helpful to many to keep such journals to keep their focus on gratitude rather than negativity or what is missing. I think one of the benefits is that consistent journaling can prime the pump in such a way that one lives in a state of conscious gratitude on a consistent basis.
Thanksgiving is another opportunity for many of us to turn our attention to gratitude. There are many things for which I am grateful. I am grateful for health and well being. I find myself feeling gratitude for music and the joy of spending time with good friends. I am also grateful for my family and meaningful opportunities to express my gifts and talents.
I am also grateful for each of you who read my blog. It is a blessing each time I hear from you about what is happening in your life or when you tell me how something I have written has resonated with you. The beauty of this time of year is as we join with each other in gratitude it connects us to one another and opens us to the love and wonder that is available to each of us not only on Thanksgiving but at all times of the year.
Wishing you a Thanksgiving Day and weekend filled with gratitude, grace and abundant blessings.
